Important 18-carat gold quarter repeating watch. Massive triple body engine turned 'Empire' case made by JOLY (case maker Master mark), gilt brass cuvette. Silver engine turned dial (also by Joly), with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Very fine gilt brass bar movement, 6 jewels, Breguet ruby cylinder escapement, plain brass three armed balance, 'parachute' suspension and compensation curb. Repeating on two gongs with two hammers by means of lockable piston on the pendant. In good condition with a short gold chain and a key. Later Breguet fitted case. Diam. 54 mm.

The dial plate with a translucent blue enamel over engine turning, gold stars on the edge, on each side of the dial, two automaton savages strike the quarters at will, on two bells. Full plate gilt brass movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain gold three armed balance, polished steel cock with ruby endstone. Repeating on two gongs. Three body 'Empire' case with pearl set bezels and reeded band. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, blued steel Breguet hands. On the rear face, very fine composition of 'champlevé' enamel and three coloured gold, depicting a theatre scene, with a dansing couple in front of a mirror, two other automaton musicians play the harp and beat time on each side of the stage. Two train gilt brass movement with going barrels, ruby cylinder escapement, plain brass three armed balance, repeating on gongs. Musical train with pointed disc and 22 vibrating steel blades. The polished steel automaton work is set on a specially made level added to the original XIXth century movement. In very good condition.

On the foreground, another three coloured gold chiselled automaton scene, with a Cupid blowing the fire on the forge, a knife-grinder Cupid and a third Cupid forging the weapons of Venus. Gilt brass double train movement with inset bells, cylindrical pillars, cylinder escapement with plain brass three armed balance. Repeating on two bells by depressing the pendant.
