THE DRAGON CASTLE French. Made circa 1880. Fine and unusual, gilt-brass, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking table clock in the form of a fantasy medieval castle.
Square body with overhanging and pitched "tiled" roof and circular turrets, pierced strapwork grilles, raised on pillars, the front with dragons entwined around, scroll feet, the sides with applied lion rampant shields, hinged medieval- style back door with latch. Chapter ring with applied radial Roman numerals, the center with a repousse cockerell. Pierced fancy white hands. Circular gilt-brass plates, going barrels for both trains, anchor escapement, brass bob pendulum, striking on a bell. Movement signed Lenzkirch.
