THOMAS MUDGE LONDON SILVER Thomas Mudge, London, No. 552, circa 1778. Fine silver pair-cased early center second with cylinder escapement.
OUTER: Two-body, polished, INNER: Two-body, "bassine" with deep back, polished. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic markers. Blued steel "beetle and poker" hands. 38 mm. frosted gilt full-plate with square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, cylinder escapement with brass escape wheel, steel balance with flat balance spring, single-footed cock with diamond endstone, gilt brass dust cap.
