SMITH BRISTOL ENGLISH Smith, Bristol, English. Made circa 1730. Fine, gold, double-cased watch, by an interesting provincial maker. Accompanied by a key.
C. Outer: Two-body, repoussé, the case back depicting
a musical scene, border with repoussé foliate scrolls,
the bezel decorated to match. Inner: Two-body, plain,
polished with split bezel
D. Gold-color champleve, with Roman hour and Arabic
five minute numerals, outer minute divisions, repousse
central cartouche. Blued-steel beetle-and -poker hands.
M. GiIt-brass, full-plate with scroll pierced Egyptian
pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with plain
three-arm steel balance and flat balance spring. Large
?eared? balance cock pierced and engraved with
inhabited foliage.
Signed on the dial and movement. Diam. 50 mm.
