Very fine and rare, tonneau-shaped, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel and pink gold gentleman's wristwatch with pink gold hooded lugs and stainless steel and pink gold bracelet.

Purchased new by the grand-mother of the consignor as a 20th wedding anniversary gift to her husband in Brazil, it is one of the iconic bubbleback models. Having been worn for a few years and then inherited by the family it lay forgotten in the family safe for 50 years until recently re-discovered. It was then dropped off to Rolex Brazil for a simple overhaul as it had not been used at all and was in need of maintenance. Apart from the later Rolex clasp which was probably fi tted for convenience, it is more than likely that the link bracelet was made by the famous Gay Freres company (although not signed). One of the nicest example to be offered at auction in the recent years, it bears its original patinated pink colored dial, perfect crisp and deep reference and serial numbers on the caseback as well as a beautifully preserved case.
