Notes

The reference 1463 was launched in 1940. The Extract from the Archives confirms that the present watch was made in 1943 and subsequently sold on 28th June 1945 making this watch one of the earlier examples of this reference which continued in production until 1965. The majority were made in yellow gold. The silvered dial, gold indexes, gold hands and tachometer oft he present watch are also confirmed by the Extract form the Archives. The reference 1463 is the only Patek Philippe vintage chronograph to have a water-resistant case and it has become one of the iconic watches of the company?s production. It is interesting that Patek Philippe launched this luxury model and continued to produce it right through the height of the Second World War illustrating that even during this very unstable period there was surprisingly still sufficient demand for expensive watches.
