C. Double-body, solid, ?bassine et filets? fully chased with foliage partly enamelled in green, the back pierced and chased with rose-cut diamonds, and ruby set lotus flowers. Orange flinqué enamelled gold detachable cuvette. Suspended from a matching brooch. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Gold ?Louis XV? hands. M. 9 1/2???, nickel plated, ?fausses côtes? decoration, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, ?à moustaches?, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring.Signed on the dial and movement.Diam. 30 mm.

Notes

The cuvette of this watch was enamelled in order to be seen through the decoration of the back.Van Der Meersch, MaxenceMaxence Van Der Meersch, French poet and author, was born in May, 1907, rue Cuvier in Roubaix (France). He completed his studies in 1926 in the Lycée of Tourcoing where he was a brilliant pupil. In 1927, he married Thérèze Dinis who gave him a daughter in 1929. Between 1932 and his death on January 1, 1951, he published several books. He was received the Goncourt Prize for L?Empreinte du Dieu in 1936 and was awarded the Prize of the Académie Française in 1943 for Corps et âmes.
