PATEK PHILIPPE ST. GEORGE & THE DRAGON YELLOW GOLD Patek Philippe & Cie, Geneve, No. 72160. Made circa 1887 for N. Matson & Co, Chicago. Very fine and very rare, Louis XV style, 18K yellow gold, keyless pendant watch.
C. Four-body, Louis XV, the bezel cast and chased with the motto Intempestate. Secvritas, the domed back cover decorated with a scene of St. George and the Dragon and the motto S. Georgivs.Eqvitvm.Patronvs, the interior with a scene of Christ on a ship in a rough sea. Hinged gold cuvette. D. Gilded cartouche, chased with scrolls, radial blue Roman numerals on oval white enamel reserves, outer white enamel minute ring with blue dot and baton markers. Blued steel Louis XV hands. M. 12???, frosted gilt, 17 jewels, wolf?s tooth winding, straight line lever à moustache, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed by maker and retailer and with dedication, movement signed and numbered. Diam. 33 mm.
