Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, No. 65881, case No. 65881, made for Bailey, Banks & Biddle, Philadelphia, circa 1883. Very fine 18-carat pink gold hunting cased five minute repeating moon phase astronomical watch with perpetual calendar and chronograph.
Four body massive "grande gouge" polished case. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute and chronograph rings, subsidiary dials for the days of the week, the months, the dates in red with outer running seconds, moon phase aperture with its age on the edge. Blued steel "spade" hands. Extremely fine 18' rhodium plated movement, "fausses-côtes" decoration, 39 jewels, equilibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring with a micro-metric index. Striking on gongs by means of a slide on the band. The chronograph with a visible work and a push piece on the band. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm.
