C. Three-body, heart-shaped, the bezels, band, stem and bow set with half-pearls, the front and back covers set with carved heart-shaped domed red tourmalines. Hinged gold cuvette. Necklace with finely chased foliate terminals and clasp. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute indexes, Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 20 x 18 mm., heartshaped, frosted gilt, bar calibre, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm flat-rim balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed. Dim. 27 x 25 mm.

An enamel and diamond-set heart-shaped watch with the same movement as the present watch is illustrated: Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, ?Patek Philippe, Geneèe?, Second Edition, 1993, p. 109. The case design of this watch derives from the pendants, usually made from rock crystal, which were popular during the 19th Century. They represent love or ?strong blood? and were inspired by the famous 16th Century pendant surmounted by a crown which, by tradition, had belonged to Mary, Queen of Scots.
