Notes

With its gold and enamel case and the figure on the dial turning its head from right to left, driven by the escapement, this watch is a very fine example of the so called "Bras en Pair" watches, featuring one of the most original ways to display the time. Only few watches of this type were produced towards the end of the 18th century. They enjoyed a successful revival during the Art Deco period thanks to Verger France, who produced them for the best jewellers such as Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris, Gfibelin in Lucerne and Caldwell or Tiffany in the U.S.A.
