C. Three body mahogany deck-watch type box. Brass bowl with screwed bezel. D. Frosted and silvered with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and Up-and- Down scale. Gilt brass Breguet hands. M. Brass full plate, spotted finished with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, the barrel passing through the back plate, and secured by a bridge, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, two-arm compensation balance with cylindrical weights and timing screws, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves, diamond end-stone. Signed on the mahogany box. In very good condition. Dial diam. 63 mm.

Simon Vissiere Was born in Paris in 1822 and died in Gannets in 1887. Pupil to NV 'innerl, he was especially known for his researches on amagnetism. IIe was awarded a silver medal in the 1849 Exhibition. He exhibited in London in 1851 and again in France in 1852 at the .Exposition des Produits de l ' Industrie Frans.aise.>. In 1867 he established in Le Havre whey he had his own personal observatory. That same year. he patenued a chronometer balance.
