William Brown, London, No. 109, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1790. Fine and large gilt brass and enamel pair cased centre seconds stop watch.

Outer double body, Louis XVI, the bezels with chased palm leaf decoration against a matted ground, the back enamel panel painted with an allegory featuring Clio, Muse of History, and Urania, Muse of Astronomy. Inner double body bassine, polished. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minutes and seconds ring. Gilt brass hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel threearm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English cock with diamond end-stone. Stop lever in the bezel. Gilt brass dust cap. Signed on the back plate and dust cap. Diam. 71 mm.
