Ilbery, London, No. 6869, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1815. Very fine 18K gold, enamel and pearl set centre seconds watch with special escapement.
C. Three body, Empire with split pearl set bezels, pendant and bow, the back inset with a panel enamelled with a painted hunting scene within a splitpearl inlaid frame, against a red flinque enamel ground. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with a rosette and further decoration on the border. D. White enamel with Roman hour numerals, and outer minute ring and seconds ring. Polished gold spoon pattern hands. M. Gilt brass, Chinese calibre fully engraved with a foliage decoration, free standing barrel, single wheel duplex escapement with brass escape wheel and three-arm balance with wedge shaped and partly blued-steel weights, flat balance spring and regulator. Signed on the movement. Diam. 58 mm.
