Abraham Chapuis Zoller, fecit à Genève, circa 1813.Fine and early, 18K gold and enamel, small musical box, almost certainly made for the English Market.

Double body, rectangular with rounded corners, base and side panels engine-turned, corners and borders chased with leaves and with further black champlevé enamelled decoration, the enamel panel of the lid painted with a fine hunting scene, after an 18th century English engraving. M. Rectangular with 4 cm. pinned cylinder, fly regulator and a comb made of 16 groups of three blades.Signed on the movement.Dim. 65 x 43 mm.

Notes

The mainspring is signed Bataud fils and dated 1813.The enamel painting on the lid of this box is very much in the best style of English painting from the end of the 18th century. Although it was undoubtedly painted in Geneva, it was certainly made for the British Market.
