Roux Bordier & Cie., Geneva, circa 1810.Very fine 18K gold and enamel, quarter repeating watch with automaton scene.

C. Double body, Directoire, polished D. Small white enamel with Breguet numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Driven by the repeating train, the varicoloured gold automaton scene is applied over a fine Swiss landscape painted on the enamelled dial plate. Below two cherub automaton Jacks strike hours and quarters on two bells, two lumberjacks are sawing a tree-trunk while a third one is pruning a tree and water is flowing from a fountain. M. Hinged gilt brass three-quarter plate with cylindrical pllars, going barrel, virgule escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring. Repeating by depressing the pendant on two bells sunk into the movement.Signed on the back plate.Diam. 59 mm.

Notes

Most of the few watches known to exist, fitted with similar movements, carry the signature of the Geneva watchmakers Chevalier & Cochet who could be their inventor although there is no documentation supporting this.
