C. Double body Louis XV, the porphyry bezel andback carved in a sunburst pattern. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Gold Louis XV hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Repeating on the case by depressing the pendant.Signed on the dial and back plate.Diam. 44 mm.

A very good example of the highest quality of engine-turning on hard-stone.Abraham Théodore Terroux, also referred as Terroux l'Aîné.Son of François. Master watchmaker, he was a member of the Committee of the Société des Arts in 1776 and 1777. Active during the second part of the 18th century, he was specialised in watches with engine-turned cased. He was also among the few craftsmen of his time able to perform engine-turning on hard stone.
