Notes

Lucien Sandoz won the Third Class Medal at the very selective Swiss National Exhibition of Horology in 1881. It is conceivable that the present watch was the one for which singled out for the prize.The carriage of this watch is typical of the first type made by Auguste Grether.Auguste Grether (1817-1879)a very famous and skilled adjuster, who was born in Ponts-de-Martel where he began his career. He created his own style of tourbillon cage which he fitted to pieces for the best manufactures in the Neuchâtel area. He often worked for Girard-Perregaux, for their early 1/2 and 3/4 plate tourbillons and for their famous three gold bridge tourbillon.
