SINGING BIRD BOX Attributed to Bontems, Paris. Made circa 1880. Fine, gilt-metal and painted-on-enamel singing bird box. Accompanied by a key.
C. Two-body, fl orally engraved, rectangular with rounded corners, hinged compartment in the side for the key, bird cover painted with an alpine scene, the interior with a bouquet of roses. M. Rectangular brass, going barrel and rectangular bellows, the revolving bird with moving wings and beak, controlled by two cams mounted beneath the barrel wheel, gilt brass grille pierced and engraved with foliage. Dim. 3.6 x 4.5 x 9.8 cm.
