MUSICAL BOX WITH CONCEALED EROTIC AUTOMATON Swiss, No. 2710. Made in the early 19th century. Fine and rare, gilt-brass and enamel, musical tabatiere with concealed erotic automaton scene activated when the music plays.

C. Rectangular, gilt-brass, hinged lid set with a mirror within a guilloche border, the sides set with rectangular panels of royal blue translucent enamel decorated with multicolored gold paillon fl owers and circles, hinged base set with a mirror to match the lid and disclosing the chased repousse erotic automaton scene of a couple in a garden arbor, turned feet. M. 84 x 57 mm., brass, pinned cylinder playing on 63 tuned steel teeth mounted in trios, fl y governor, activated by a slide in the side of the box. Movement numbered. Dim. 93 x 66 x 59 mm.
