EROTIC CIGARETTE CASE, THE MERMAID Swiss or French. The case with Birmingham import marks for 1911-1912. Fine and rare, silver, gold and painted on enamel cigarette case with concealed erotic scene.

Rectangular curved, polished, the front cover applied in gold with various names and good luck symbols, the interior with two compartments for cigarettes, the front cover also opening to reveal a fi nely painted on enamel underwater scene of a diver seated on the seabed with a mermaid in his lap, a shark above about to bite the diver?s airline.
