MONT- BLANC FROM LAC LEMAN Attributed to Jacques Bruguier. Made circa 1860. Fine, silver-mounted tortoiseshell and painted on enamel singing bird box.

Rectangular, entirely made of tortoiseshell, silver framework with fan-motif corners, silver base, hinged key compartment, fi nely painted on enamel oval lid depicting a view of the Mont Blanc from Lac Leman (Geneva). M. Rectangular, 90 x 44 mm, brass, turned pillars, fusee and chain, rectangular bellows, bird with moving head, fl apping wings, opening beak and fl uttering tail, eight cams controlling the piston and the bird's beak and tail, two additional for the other movements, long duration of song, precision cam controlled lifting mechanism, gilt grille engraved with foliate decoration. Dim. 97 x 64 x 30 mm.
