Notes

Montres DeWitt first participated in Only Watch in 2007 with the presentation of the WX-1 (concept watch No.1). For Only Watch 2011, DeWitt presents the X-Watch, continuing its exploration of reversible watches. The mechanism, initially inspired by a concrete mixer, was first executed in the Antipode (concept watch No. 2) but for the X-Watch DeWitt have created a spectacular articulated ?bonnet? in the shape of an ?X? that partly covers the dial of the watch. When the ?X? is released, the watch can be rotated to show the chronograph dial. The X-Watch houses DeWitt's third 100% in-house manufactured movement, the calibre DW8046. One single reversible movement displaying bi-retrograde hours and minutes on both sides and featuring an automatic tourbillon, a chronograph and patented automatic winding with peripheral rotor. The calibre DW8046 is the perfect illustration of the ingenuity of DeWitt's master watchmakers. ?How easy and how tempting it is to follow trends! How reassuring as well! It takes a certain state of mind, made up of independence and character, to continue exploring new boundaries when everybody else has given up. It takes persistence and audacity to challenge the rules and go your own way. In other words, it takes personality to stay true to your convictions!? These words from Mr. DeWitt, illustrating his vision and philosophy of watchmaking, are more than relevant in the context of the Only Watch Charity Auction.
