D. gold, champlevé Roman numerals on red gold chapter ring, outer minute dot divisions, engine-turned center with green gold applied rosette, border with applied varicolored flowers, blued steel "Breguet" hands. M. 35,2 mm, gilt, early bridge caliber, cylinder escapement, plainold balance with blued steel flat spring, escapement jeweled.Cuvette signed. Diam. 44.5 mm.

Formerly in the Lord Sandberg Collection.Granulation, a technique using tiny beads of gold, was employed-and probably invented-by the ancient Etruscans. Etruscan jewelry was highly sought-after throughout the Mediterranean. The present lot employs a technique in which ready-to-apply fine gauge gold rope wires are soldered onto the surface, thereby forming the desired pattern.
