The MandolinUnsigned, Geneva, circa 1810.Fine and amusing, 18K gold and enamel, pearl-set form watch with concealed dial, in the shape of a mandolin.

C. two-body, the sound-board painted on enamel with four cherubs, the glazed sound-hole with visible cock, the back of the sound-chest with ogival segments of translucent dark blue enamel alternating with geometrically patterned ones, the front of the neck with green enamel flowers, the back in blue and black champlevé enamel, the pegs paste-set, gold double suspension pearl chain. D. white enamel, Breguet numerals. Blued steel "Breguet" hands. M. 18.6 mm ø, hinged, gilt brass full plate, cylindical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, blued steel balance-spring, continental cock, rack and pinion regulator with a silver plate.Dim. 62 x 27 mm.A very similar watch was in the Lord Sandberg Collection, sold by Antiquorum in Geneva on April 1, 2001, lot 202.
