Quare & Horsemans, London No. 1027, circa 1720. Rare 18-carat gold pair cased quarter repeating watch.
The double body outer case, pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage, shells and family portraits, is centered with a monogram. Double body inner bassine case, pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage, the back centered with a roset. Fine gold champlevé dial with Roman numerals and concentric Arabic minute ring. Blued steel "poker" and "beetle" hands. Gilt brass dust cap. Full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain three armed steel balance, English cock with diamond endstone. Striking on a bell when depressing the pendant. In good condition. Diam. 49 mm.
