Louis Baronneau, Paris, circa 1680. Rare early 8 day travelling clock, quarter pull repeating on three bells, in original enbossed leather fitted travelling case.

Shaped tortoise shell veneered cabinet with brass filets. Brass chapter ring engraved with Roman numerals and concentric Arabic 60 minutes ring applied on a pink silk covered dial-plate, subsidiary small regulator dial above for the silk suspension. Shaped movement with amphora pillars, going barrel, verge escapement, the balance wheel secured by a bridge, controlled by a pendulum. In very good condition. 22x13,5x9 cm.

Notes

This is one of the earliest known repeating French clock. Since the actuel clock still retained its original travelling case, it is now assumed such clocks were made for travel purpose.
