Probably Simon Gounouilhou, Swiss, circa 1800. Rare double face watch with an automaton scene applied on a painted enamel depicting a kitchen.
Three body gilt silver, slightly later case, glazed on both faces. White enamel dial (slightly chipped) with Breguet numerals. Breguet blued steel hands. On the rear face, a magnificent 3 coloured gold automaton scene applied on a painted enamel back ground: a lady, working on her spinning wheel is sitting by the mantle piece where two chickens diven by a chain linked to a turning squirrel cage run by a dog; the fire is burning in the fire-place and water is pouring from the fountain. Fine very compact gilt brass double train movement with cylindrical pillars, going train with fusee and chain, verge escapement. In good condition. Diam. 60 mm.
