J. Assmann, Dresde, No. 5176 made for the Spanish market, circa 1872. Good 18-carat gold and enamel half hunting cased keyless watch.
Four body massive "demi-bassine" case, chased overall in the Renaissance style, a blue enamel chapter ring on the cover, around the dial aperture with white Roman numerals, a "C" below an earl crown in an escutchon engraved on the back. Gold cuvette. Silver dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds, engraved with scrolls and with a gold cast floral decoration. Blued steel "spade" hands. Very good 18' three quarter plate nickel movement, "à vagues" decoration, 20 jewels in gold screwed settings, with a gold train of wheels, straight line lever escapement with gold anchor and escape wheel, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. In very good condition. Diam. 52 mm.
