Very fine and rare 20-carat gold and enamel gem set pair case quarter repeating watch with a concealed erotic scene, made for the Chinese market. Double body outer case, the pierced enamelled bezel set with various precious stones, the back made of seven pannels framed by precious stones, the central one with a blue 'champlevé' enamelled dragoon ( slightly restored) disclosing the small erotic enamel scene, painted on its back, five other pannels with blue 'champlevé' enamelled flowers and the last one set with a cabochon of agate. Double body inner case, pierced and engraved with scrolls, a mask and flowers. Small white enamel dial with Roman numerals and an outer rupestral painted scene with a horseman, a castel and a small village (slightly restored). Gold hands. Gilt brass dust cap. Gilt brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with plain brass three armed balance and an English cock. Repeating on a bell. In good condition. Diam. 38 mm.
