Auguste Saltzman - Chaux-de-Fonds, No 1198, circa 1860 Fine 18K gold hunting cased watch with independent seconds and 1/4 second "diablotine".
Four body massive "demi-bassine et filets" engine turned case with a reeded band. Gold cuvette engine turned on the edge. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer independent second ring and subsidiary dial for the 1/4 second "foudroyante". Gold Breguet hands with blued steel tips. Fine nickel plated 18? key wound double train movement, "a vague" decoration, the barrels wound separately, 28 jewels, equilibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. the independent second train patented in June 1858 is stopped and released by means of a push piece on the band. Signed on the dial, the cuvette and the movement. In good condition. Diam. 54 mm
