Hen. Harper Fecit, (London, Cornhill), circa 1710, probably painted by Mussard, Geneva. Fine gilt brass and enamel pre-balance spring watch.
Double body bassine case enamelled with a very fine painting of a lady playing the mandolin with a Cupid, small monochrome landscapes on the four side panels, a monochrome landscape painted inside the case on the enamel backing. Silver champleve chapter ring with Roman numerals, the enamel center painted with the portrait of a shepherdess with a lamb. Blued steel single hand. Fine gilt brass full plate movement with tulip pillars, the fusee with a gut line, verge escapement with a brass two armed balance wheel foliot, screwed gilt brass single foot cock pierced and engraved with scrolls, regulation of the main spring tension by means of a worm screw. Signed on the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 47 mm.
