S. Smith & Son , Watchmaker to the Admiralty, 9 Strand, London, N° 239, bearing the London Hall Marks for 1882-83. Rare and important 18K gold keyless pocket chronometer with a chronometer escapement and a 60 minute karrusel regulator.

Three body massive "pomme et bassine" polished ca-se. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. Gilt brass three quarter plate 21? movement with a going barrel, 17 jewels in screwed settings, Spring de-tent escapement, cut bimetallic balance with gold poi-sing screws, blued steel balance spring with a terminal curve, free sprung. The escapement is set on a sixty minute revolving carriage driven by the contrate wheel. Signed on the dial and the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 57 mm.
