Girard Perregaux, Chaux-de-Fonds, No. 63999, made for the Hispanic market, circa 1880. Very fine and impressive 18K gold, hunting-cased, keyless, astronomical double-face pocket watch with calendar and phases of the moon.
C. Five-body, heavy, ?bassine et filets?, both covers elaborately engraved with dragons, floral and foliate pattern, band engraved with repeated pattern, special device that allows one to open only the top cover with the same pushpiece. D. Silver, radial Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, center and outermost with applied varicolored gold matte floral motifs. Blued steel pierced hands. Reverse: silver, two subsidiary dials for days of the week and months, phases of the moon aperture at 12, outermost Arabic date scale. M. 43 mm (19???), maillechort, damascened with radial pattern, 17 jewels, gold motion train to the calendar, exceptionally well finished calendar plate, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring.
