"Large Quarter Repeater, Duplex Escapement" R(ichar)d Webster, Cornhill, London, No. 5145. The case with London hallmarks for 1817 - 1818. Very fine and rare, large, quarter-repeating, 18K gold pocket watch with duplex escapement.

C. Four-body, "pomme", polished, the back cover engraved with a coat of arms and the motto "Non Immemor Beneficii" (not forgetful of a helping hand). Hinged gold cuvette. D. Gold, matted chapter ring with polished radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute indexes, subsidiary seconds, engine-turned center. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 49 mm., frosted gilt, full plate, the barrel secured by a bridge, fusee and chain, Harrison's maintaining power, jeweled single-wheel duplex escapement, plain three-arm gold balance, flat blued steel balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator, repeating on blued steel gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Movement signed. Diam. 56 mm.
