"Pivoted Detent Chronometer" Hy. Moser & Cie, "Chronometre à Renversement", No. 67618. Made circa 1905, for the Russian market. Very fine, 18K yellow gold, hunting-cased, keyless pocket chronometer with Jaquet & Gérard inversed pivoted detent escapement.

Gold hands with blued steel "quatrefoil" tips. M. 43 mm., 19''', frosted gilt, 15 jewels, pivoted detent chronometer escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral timing screws, blued steel helical balance spring, swan-neck micrometer regulator. Case and cuvette signed. Diam. 56 mm.

Johann Heinrich Moser (1805?1874) A Swiss watchmaker, son of a clockmaker, he moved to St. Petersburg circa 1827, where he opened a watch business (Nevskii Prospect and Malaya Konyushennaya St.). He had also a branch in Moscow from 1827 to 1874, on Ilinka St. In 1874 his son Henry Moser, Jr. took over the business.
