?The Three Muses? William Brown, London, No. 109. Made for the Chinese Market, circa 1790. Fine and rare, small, gilt brass and painted on enamel pair-cased coach and table watch with center seconds and stop feature.
C. Outer: two-body, ?bassine?, the bezels with chased palm leaf decoration against a matted ground, the back enamel panel painted with an allegory featuring Clio, Muse of History, and Urania, Muse of Astronomy and Euterpe, the muse of music in a landscape. Inner: two-body ?bassine?, polished. Gilt brass dust cap. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals and outer minute and seconds divisions, Arabic five seconds/minutes numerals. Pierced gilt brass hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved gilt brass English cock with diamond endstone, silver regulation dial, stop lever in the bezel.
