Precision Timekeeper with 5 ComplicationsAttributable to Lepaute, Paris, circa 1795.Very fine and extremely rare 8 day-going mahogany center-seconds mantle regulator with decimal and duo-decimal chapters and Revolutionary and Gregorian calendars, striking the hours and half hours.
C. Mahogany, glazed on both sides, the front and the back, rectangular removable cresting above molded cornice supported by mahogany corbels, the whole also removable revealing a pin releasing the sliding back panel lock, rectangular base with molded top, ivory knob on the back panel, gilt brass chiseled bezel decorated with repeated acanthus-leaf pattern, square mahogany feet. D. White enamel, listing from outermost to the center: Revolutionary months and decades, Gregorian months, Revolutionarminutes and hours, duo-decimal minutes and hours, the center repeats the revolutionary months, all revolutionary indications in black, Gregorian and duo-decimal in red, all numerals Arabic. Elaborate gilt brass duo-decimal hands, blued steel revolutionary hands with, on the hour hand a Phrygian cap over a pike, date aperture behind the bezel, two winding apertures. M. Round, brass full plate, cylindrical pillars, going barrels, pin wheel dead beat escapement, steel-brass gridiron pendulum, knif-edge suspension set on a brass bracket fixed to the top panel of the case, micrometric adjustment on the crutch, striking on a bell, count wheel on the back plate.Dim.
