?The Continence of Scipio, by Cochin? Quare, London, No. 1025. Made circa 1690. Fine, early, repousse silver pair-cased pocket watch with single hand.
C. Outer: two-body, repousse, decorated in relief with a central scene within a rocaille scroll border signed ?Cochin. F?. Inner: two-body, "bassine", polished, deep back, split bezel, loose ring pendant. D. Silver ?champlevé? with radial Roman numerals and inner half and quarter-hour divisions, the center decorated with scrolls and the signature cartouches. Fleur-de-lys steel hour pointer. M. 40 mm., hinged, gilt brass full plate with divided Egyptian pillars, fusée and chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass winged cock pierced and engraved with foliage. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 54 mm.
