Le Fevre, Successeur de De Belle à Paris, No. 172. Very fine and unusual 18 ct. gold early minute repeating watch.

C. Three body, Empire, with reeded band and engineturned back in a sun-burst pattern. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. GiIt brass full plate with going barrel passing through the back plate, cylinder escapement, plain brass three arm balance, flat balance spring and diamond end-stone. Dumb repeating hours and quarter on the case, striking the minutes on a gong. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 61 mm.

Notes

The repeating system of this watch is drawn from that invented by Breguet in order to make a difference between the hours, quarters and minutes. The caliber of this movement is very similar to that used by Robert Robin. As far De Belle was a pupil of Robin, one might think the movement of this watch was made by Le Fevre under the direction of De Belle.
