Anonymous, Swiss, made for the Chinese market, circa 1840. Rare and unusual silver gilt and enamel pearl-set quarter repeating musical watch.

C. Four body, "Empire" with reeded band, split-pearl set bezels, pendant and bow, the back enamelled with painted flowers in their natural colors. Glazed cuvette. D. White enamel with Roman numerals (slightly restored). Blued steel "pear" hands. M. Unusual gilt brass, double train, with going barrels, fully engraved with scrolls, inverted cylinder escapement, three arm plain steel balance, flat balance spring. Pin- disc musical train win vibrating steel blades. Repeating on gongs with slide in the band and polished steel repeating work exposed on the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 61 mm.
