Allamand Brothers & Charles Lardet, 371 City Road, London (English branch of Allamand Frères from Geneva), No. 3194, bearing the London hallmarks for 1880. Extremely fine 18 ct. gold and enamel, hunting cased, keyless presentation watch, in fitted box.

Four body, massive, "bassine et filets" by Strachan ( master mark), fully decorated, the band with a black champleve enameled leaf garland, bezels and bow with formai decoration, the cover centered with a fine enamel painted representation of Helvetia in a black champleve enameled frame engraved with six bunches of flowers and further outer decoration. The back centered with a fine painted enamel representation of the Swiss flag below the motto: "Un pour tous tous pour un". Gold cuvette. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 19-, frosted and gilt, three quarter plate, 15 jewels in gold screwed settings, English lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, balance spring with terminal curve. Signed on the dial and movement. In very good condition. Diam. 54 mm.

The high quality of the case, clearly made in England but sent to Switzerland for enameling the Swiss symbols, indicates the watch was specially commissioned to the English branch of a Geneva firm, in order to be presented to an important Swiss personality, at the occasion of an official visit in England.
