Anonymous, Swiss, circa 1820. Fine gold, enamel and pearl set quarter-repeating musical watch for the Chinese export market.

C. Four body, with engine-turned band, split-pearl set bezels, the back panel decorated with a rosette in scarlet guilloche enamel within powder blue and white border, hinged gold cuvette. D. Gold, engine turned with black enamelled Roman hour numerals and outer minute ring. Blued-steel serpentine hands with sweep centre seconds. M. Frosted and gilt plates, standing barrels, cylinder escapement with plain 3-arm alloy balance flat spring and regulator, disc musical train playing on the hour or at will with silent/play lever in the cuvette and set off bar in the band, quarter repeating on two gongs by depressing the pendant. In very good condition. Diam.52mm.
