Brockbank, London, No. 2343, with London hallmarks for 1785. Fine and rare 22 ct. gold pair cased, centre seconds stop-watch with ruby cylinder escapement.
C. Outer, double body polished, marked "J.C" beneath an axe. Inner double body bassine, polished with the same Master and hallmarks. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute and seconds ring. Gold "poker and beetle" hands and counterpoised centre seconds. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, the back plate partly covered with a decorative engraved fret, the decoration matching that of the cock's foot, fusee with chann, early ruby cylinder escapement with steel escape wheel, plain steel three-arm balance with large diamond endstone, flat balance spring, gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage a helmet and the profile of a Roman Emperor. Stop-watch lever in the dial-plate. Gilt brass dust-cap. Signed on the dial, dust cap and back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 56 mm.
