James Tregent, Leicester Square, London, No. 1215, circa 1780. Very fine gold and enamel pair-cased quarterrepeating watch with matching chatelaine.

C. Outer, double body, entirely engraved with brightcut pattern line work decorated with pallets, roundels and wavy lines in white and royal blue translucent enamel, the back centred with a classical urn, the chatelaine decorated en suite, with gilt clip, suspending three panels and four chaires, with original key and complementary eye-glass, vinaigrette urn and hair locket. Inner, double body pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage and grotesque mask. Gilt-metal dust cap. D. White enamel, Roman and Arabic numerals. Blued-steel " beetle and poker" hands. M. Gilt brass full-plate, turned pillars, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement with steel escape wheel, plain three-am steel balance and flat spring. English pattern balance cock with diamond end-stone. Quarterrepeating on a bell and "à-toc" by depressing the pendant. Signed on the back plate, dial and dust cap. In very good condition.
