1. Welldon, London, with London hallmarks for 1731. Very fine 22 ct. gold pair cased, quarter repeating watch.
C. Outer double body, the bezel pierced and engraved with flowers and foliage, the back repoussé with a scene depicting Ceres and Bacchus, as an allegory of plenty, outer pierced and engraved decoration matching that of the bezel. Inner bassine, marked "I.W." (John Ward), pierced with inhabited foliage and engraved with a mask, the back centred with a rosette. D. Gold champlevé with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Fine and unusual blued steel hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, the back plate partly covered with a gilt brass pierced and engraved fret, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with a mask and inhabited foliage. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Silver dust-cap. Signed on the dial, dust-cap and back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 49 mm.
