Dent, London, No. 18699, mid-Victorian. Rare and most desirable nickel cased eight day going chronometer timepiece carriage clock with helical balance spring and "single-staple" balance.
C. Polished-nickel, deeply bevelled glass four sides and top, sunk handle. D. White enamel, silvered engine-turned surround, seconds dial with sunk centre, blued steel "spade" hour hand, tapered minute band, polished bevelled nickel frame to whole. M. Brass rectangular, "spotted", Earnshawtype spring-detent platform escapement with inverted escape wheel, E.J. Dent's "single-staple" balance, blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves, diamond endstone to balance cock. Movement frames cut to lower balance assembly and to show-off its beauty.
