Tupman, Great Russel Street, Bloomsbury, No. 1558, with London hallmarks for 1828. Rare and very unusual 18 ct. gold, quarter repeating watch with offset seconds, special escapement and compensation.
C. Four body, Empire, with engine-turned band, marked "L.C" (Louis Comptesse). Hinged gold cuvette. D. Gold engine-turned with Roman numerals on a polished chapter and offset subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. 19"', gilt brass, French style bar calibre with going barrel, the balance bridge engraved with scrolling foliage, "Savage" two-pin lever escapement, two-arm cut bimetallic balance with auxiliary compensation, diamond endstone, flat balance spring with regulator. Repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. Signed on the cuvette. In good condition. Diam. 49 mm.
