C. Rectangular, two part solid mahogany with brass carrying handles and central hinges, glazed top with sliding cover, moulded base. Brass cylinder with weighting ring, suspended in circular gimbals, locking by two swivelling arms pressing upwards against the base of the cylinder. D. Silvered, Roman hour numerals, Arabic seconds on subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock, blued steel hands. M. Brass full plate, plain turned pillars secured by screws, Earnshaw spring detent escapement, Earnshaw's cut bimetallic compensated balance with segmented weights, blued-steel helical balance spring, fusee and drain. Signed on the dial and the back-plate Diam. of movement 57 mm. dim. of box 25 x 25 x 17.5 cm.
