Notes
Accompanied by American Gemological Laboratories
report number CS30358, CS30359 and CS30360
stating that the sapphires have had no heat
enhancements and that two of them are of Kashmir
origin, and the third exhibit characterisics of Kashmir
but can not be absolutely detemined as presently
mounted.
The most striking element in this piece is its magnificent
Kashmir saphires. It is extremely rare to find three such
lively sapphires so perfectly matched, not only in color,
but in clarity (practically flawless) and cutting as well.
The "king of sapphires", stones from Kaslmlir are prized
as being the finest, and these, with their very even,
saturated, and extremely Bright body color are of no
exception (for futher commentary on Kashmir sapphires,
please refer to lot 236 A, separate catalogue).
These sapphires are beautifully integrated into the design
of the bracelet / clips, which is contempory by today's
standards, even though the piece was made in1942, once
again confirming how avant-garde is the house of
Cartier. The design is balanced and harmonious; the
workmanship is brilliant in every clean detail.
Apart from the magnificent gemstones, design and
workmanship, this jewel also has versatility, in that not
only is it an important bracelet, but it easily couverts into
3 elegant, separate clip brooches, each one outstanding
on its own.
